Not only a very healthy superfood for consumers, but also a product that combats deforestation and gives communities new life.
home | Fair Treat Stories | Acai from the Colombian Amazon
Colombia's Pacific Coast region has been affected by the country's internal conflicts for years, leading to widespread poverty, violence and illegal coca production. With the idea of improving people's lives in a legal way with a steady form of income, the initiative to produce acai was started here. All this is done in different locations in Colombia and through sustainable agriculture. This involves working closely with Afro-Colombian communities and indigenous farmers. More than 1,300 families are already connected and this acai value chain is making a big impact by providing opportunities to marginalized local groups.
